-
Strength training - 45 minutes
This class is designed to make you feel like Wonder Woman- strong & you know it! This class focuses on helping you conquer movement patterns that we use (& need to use safely!) in everyday life- such as the squat, deadlift, horizontal & vertical push & pull. We use free weights to build strong muscles as we guide you through with options for all bodies. We recommend coming to at least 2 classes a week if you are wanting to build strength.
-
Mat + Barre Pilates - 45 minutes
Pilates focuses on mind-body-muscle connection & helps you to move with intention and a careful breath. Have fun learning a system of exercises designed to improve physical strength, flexibility, and posture, and enhance mental awareness. Wonderful for core & glute strengthening and alignment of spine/posture.
-
Mobility + myofascial release - 45 minutes
Join us as we guide you through a sequence of dynamic (moving) and static (holding) stretches, mobility training & fascial release (think foam rollers, trigger point balls). Fill up your self care cup as you build flexibility, protect against injury and correct your posture. This class leaves you feeling relaxed, calm & blissed out! Guided meditation included in each class with a focus on self compassion, body awareness, holding space for self & self care.
-
45-60 minutes
Enjoy a journey inwards and come home to yourself through mindful breathing, a variety of postures to stretch & strengthen you to be fully present in your body, and move with intention & self compassion.
-
60 minutes
Prepare to bliss out! Restore (Yin) yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga with postures, or asanas, that are held for longer periods of time—for beginners, it may range from 45 seconds to five minutes to allow for a great stretch - mentally and physically. Wonderful for recovery and tuning inwards!
-

As the name suggests, these sessions focus on core stability and connection through fun cardio work to improve respiratory and cardiovascular endurance.
Being timed, this is a go-at-your-own-pace style class, with endless options for all bodies, injuries and sensory needs.
Your dream gym does exist…
-
Move for my mind: "I move for my mind first, anything else is an added bonus"
-
Options for all bodies: "I can move for my mind no matter my physical ability, age, gender, sexuality, or fitness level"
You will be given an appropriate warm up, exercise demos and kind supportive guidance during class.
Your body might need options to regress or progress - just let a teacher know if you have an new injury, ongoing condition or sensory need before class starts or wave us over during class & we can change it for you.
We LOVE doing this and we encourage all members to do this!
Your body ISNT a robot and will need different things on different days!
-
"I am allowed to take a break, rest, stop or sit down whenever I need to"
We serve a range of bodies including those with invisible disabilities, hypermobility and chronic pain.
You can rest whenever you need to - this rule applies to everyone & everyone uses it!
By giving yourself grace, space + choice - this is how we build body trust!
-
The Wink Rule: "I can always access support from a trainer when I need it with a wink or a wave"
Chloe our founder made this rule up to ensure there is a shared language for asking for assistance in a discreet way if you feel nervous.
We 200% encourage you to use this in class (although our members often just yell out “Chloe” “Toni” haha)
-
Body autonomy: "I am the boss of my body. My teachers are there to guide me towards fearless movement
You know your body better than ANYONE on this earth - your SCS teachers have 30+ years combined teaching experience - but you get to say heck yes! or hell no!
We encourage you to explore what works for your unique skeleton!
-
Body neutrality : "My body is good no matter what it looks like or how it performs"
Instead of focusing on dieting + weight-loss - we focus on helping you build a relationship with movement that will set you up for success long term.
We are weight-neutral + recognise that bodies are inherently diverse + come in a variety of shapes & sizes!
-
The SCS is committed to respecting and accepting the inherent body diversity of our community. We support health-enhancement behaviours that improve wellbeing which includes physical, economic, social, spiritual, and emotional needs

Health at Every Size® is an ever-evolving model and HAES®-aligned Providers are committed to the continuous learning to stay up-to-date.
The Health At Every Size® Principles are:
Healthcare is a human right for people of all sizes, including those at the highest end of the size spectrum: People of all sizes, including those at the largest end of the size spectrum, have the right to healthcare without exception. Fat people’s access to compassionate & comprehensive healthcare should not depend on obtaining a certain BMI, pursuing weight loss, and/or holding health as a value or pursuit.
Wellbeing, care, and healing are resources that are both collective and deeply personal: Because health exists on a continuum that varies with time and circumstance for each individual, Health at Every Size® aims to focus on wellbeing, care, and healing. These are resources from which we can all pull to meet our needs. And we get to have others pour those resources into us and vice versa. Community care and mutual aid is key. Health at Every Size® providers and advocates must work to promote and create the conditions that support wellbeing i.e. environmental care, clear air & water, equitable access to food, and more. Each person is the expert of their own body and should have the right to make autonomous decisions about their health and wellbeing, including how they value or prioritize health among all the other important aspects that make up a life.
Care is fully provided only when free from anti-fat bias and offered with people of all sizes in mind: Anti-fat bias, and fatphobia are detrimental to the health and wellbeing of all people, especially fat people. When health research, health policy, health education, and the provision of care does not include the full human size spectrum, it harms people of all sizes and is the antithesis to Health at Every Size®. Those who provide Health at Every Size®-aligned care must strive to dismantle anti-fat bias personally and systemically in order to provide care for all bodies.
Health is a sociopolitical construct that reflects the values of society: How our society currently defines health is rooted in white supremacy, anti-Black racism, ableism, and healthism. As the values of our society become more rooted in collective liberation, we have the opportunity to critically examine and redefine health, disease, and illness. Regardless of the definition of health, however, access to care must never depend on an individual’s or community’s health status, pursuit of health, or compliance with health recommendations.
More information about the HAES® Principles and their development can be found on the ASDAH website. The Size Inclusive Health Australia Position Statement on Weight Neutral Care clarifies how these principles are applied to the health support of individuals.

Meet Chloe
Founder + Head Coach
Hi I’m Chloe - I started The SCS in 2018 after struggling to find a place to move that made me feel safe, gave me options & had a friendly supportive community.
So I made it for myself first!
My mission is to help you build body trust, get strong + find a movement routine that lights you up.
You don’t have to do it alone -join our kind, supportive community + feel freaking amazing.
No mirrors, no ego lifting + LGBTQIA+ affirming.
Our motto is ‘Move for your mind first - and the rest will follow!’
Can’t wait to meet you!

In 2012 I completed a clinical pilot trial at Newcastle University called “Healthy Bodies, Healthy minds”. It was an exercise physiology program for women w/depression. We did strength training & conditioning 3 x per week. I was a broke uni student & we got gift cards for attending - sign me up!
What I was NOT prepared for was for it to literally CHANGE MY LIFE!😳 How have I gone my entire life never being taught how to get stronger? Why as a woman have I never been taught this?
I learnt how to weight lift, mobilise, how to use all the gym equipment and it was like a veil had lifted. I never knew how AMAZING my body and mind could feel from regular exercise…

I never knew how AMAZING my body and mind could feel from regular exercise…
I was able to move through my depression & anxiety through movement. I had another tool in my toolkit that I could use whenever I needed it (alongside psychology and meds).
And so I harassed Adri our trainer with every single question I could!
How do you use a barbell?
What’s a deadlift?
What is a core exercise?
What do reps & sets mean?
How do I do single leg exercises?
Luckily Adri had all the answers & one day planted the seed “have you ever thought of going into training or exercise physiology?”I laughed at her suggestion.
But years later my life imploded - I was bed bound w/ migraine & endometriosis for 2 years. Every part of me screamed to be able to move- to feel strong! To feel capable!
My mental health took a turn for the worst & I’m very lucky to still be here today. Then we moved house & I found my old training journal from Adri & it inspired me to consider teaching in a different way.
Surely there were women like me who needed access to fitness? Who didn’t feel like they belonged at mainstream gyms? Who wanted to feel strong but were terrified of the grunting gym bros & mean girl culture?
So I became a PT in 2017. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done (post 2 years bedbound!) I was the slowest one there 🤪
But I did it! And that’s how The SCS was born!
